Mahindra & Mahindra has announced the launch of an entry-level variant of its popular Scorpio. The Scorpio EX is priced at Rs 7.21 lakh ex-showroom Pune and will be powered by a 2.5 litre m2DiCR diesel engine. With the new in-expensive variant of the Scorpio Mahindra will be targeting the young buyers who would like to be a part of the Scorpio’s success story.
The Mahindra Scorpio EX gets a 2.5 litre m2DiCR diesel engine under the bonnet with an impressive fuel economy figures of 14 kmpl. The 2500 cc oil burner churns out 75 bhp of max power and a massive 220 Nm of torque. The excellent fuel economy figures could be attributed to the micro hybrid technology which switched the engine into stand by mode whenever necessary. Thus, the system also helps bring down emissions.
According to Vivek Nayar, Senior VP Marketing, the Scorpio EX is one of the best-in-class products from the Mahindra family and the group would continue to provide such products for customers in the years to come. The new variant offered better driveability and performance coupled with extra-ordinary fuel efficiency according to Nayar.
Hence, with a low price and an economical engine, Mahindra feel, that the new Scorpio EX could attract young buyers to the brand and specifically the Scorpio which has been such a success for Mahindra in India in its numerours avataars.
